Fierce Beauty, India ink and Micron pen on paper, 9" x 12"

Fierce Beauty

Fierce Beauty is a 9” x 12” comic-styled illustration of a panther in an empty space, staring directly at the viewers from the frame. This was one of two commissions done over the summer of 2023, falling under a series of wild cat illustrations. The panther was drawn entirely from India ink and Micron pens over a pencil sketch.

Inspirations

I take pride in telling a variety of stories through my art. I’ve always enjoyed creating stories that go beyond my lived experiences through new stories of my own, or reimaginings of lesser-known tales that have a message to share. Most of my artworks typically utilize traditional & digital illustration, writing, sculpting, animation, comics, and painting. I'll admit that comic and graphic novel illustrations have been a big influence on how I draw today. I’ve experimented with different types of media to see what I could do at a university level, testing my skills and emulating styles I adore, while simultaneously figuring out my own artistic trademarks. I often go for older aesthetics for certain pieces to bring nostalgia and showcase something new.
