brinGING artworks by emerging artists in thE public sphere
The Pentimento Collective is a student-run organization from the Department of Art and Art Histories at the University of Calgary. It is dedicated to promoting and sharing visual artworks of students. The Pentimento Collective’s aims are to create an artistic community that will enable artists to engage and connect with other artists and the public, while building their relevant experiences. A note on our recent name change: “Pentimento” comes from the Italian 'pentirsi', which means to repent or change your mind. “Pentimento” itself is a change made by the artist during the process of an artwork. Despite the change, the presence of the earlier forms and strokes can often still be seen. We chose this name to reflect the history and ongoing process of the PUSH and PULL exhibitions. The start of the exhibitions can still be seen, but we are still adjusting to and welcoming change.
