Nostalgia

‘bigyan mo ng halaga ang pinanggalingan mo’;

‘give value your own origins’

The biggest recognition I have grown to value is where home and love comes first, family. As a way of showcasing my childhood, my room in the Philippines contained many memories about my home. The innocence and burning passion in each colour and objects simply were done to portray various transitions growing up with an influence being a Canadian. With the little things I have grown to love and be reminded of, the pinks and the flowers, 'Nostalgia' is the heart of my home.

inspiration

Torn between abstraction and realism, these are the prime concepts I felt most of my artworks would reciprocate with. Because of my love to approach a vagueness style, I would often create artworks that would seem utopian and distorted. Whether it is from scribbles of random shapes and lines shaping into a building design, or seeing the simplicity in spaces, I like to regard myself as an observant and versatile artist who likes to explore different mediums. In consideration of how art has no fixed formula for getting a perfect outcome, I visualize art coming hand in hand with various fields in society. If art can move the viewer's imagination and emphasize the importance of elements of designs and compositions within spaces, I believe art still has the power to create discoveries that would feel at home. Because with art, I feel at home.
