Alianacriz De Sagun

BottomUp
In a short series of pen explorations, I have always been curious creating distinct details. With the process of asking multiple friends of mine to scribble and/or draw random shapes, I was able to create various textured styled drawings that embodied buildings. In addition to my creative process, the piece is meant to show different perspectives whether it is upside down or right side up. This also includes a different outlook when inverted.

Artist statement
In consideration to how art has no fixed formula in getting a perfect outcome, I visualize art coming hand in hand with various fields in society. If art can move the viewer's imaginations and emphasize the importance of elements of designs and compositions within spaces, I believe art still has its power to create new discoveries that would feel at home. Because with art, I feel at home.
How did you start your art practice?
Torn between abstraction and realism, these are the prime concepts I felt most of my artworks would reciprocate with. Because of my love to approach a vagueness style, I would often create artworks that would seem utopian and distorted. Whether it is from scribbles of random shapes and lines shaping into a building design, or seeing the simplicity in spaces, I like to regard myself as observant and a versatile artist who likes to explore different mediums.
