Daisy Field, Oil Painting, 12”x16”, 2022

Daisy Field

Daisy Field is a representation of me getting out of my comfort zone by working in an abstract style. When I first moved to Canada, I started appreciating the nature around me more after experiencing winter for the first time. Overtime, daisies have become one of my favourite springtime flowers as its appearance signifies the beginning of spring for me

Artist statement

As an emerging artist, I like to challenge myself to work in different styles and mediums as I wish to explore my strengths and weaknesses. I see my art practice as a journey to understanding myself emotionally. Hence, each piece of my art is an imagery of my state of mind despite the varying themes and art styles throughout my art practice.

How did you start your art practice?

My formal art practice began at the age of 18 when I decided to take IB art to prepare myself for art school. Informally, I have always enjoyed making art since I first held a crayon as a child. My first art teacher has a big influence on my art practice as he makes his art based on his unique cultural background. His art has given me a new perspective and sense of pride in my cultural background hence, my art practice also involves some elements of my cultural background.
