The Mosh Pit

The image captures all the 'weirdos' and the punks of the city. Moshpits like this always open space for the outcasts of the city to come together and bond over music. Capturing moments like this allows me to document a moment in a subculture. A comfortable space where they can dance with everybody watching them and still manage to enjoy themselves, because they're all together for one reason.

Artist’s Statement

My work is inspired by intersectional identities and the ability of photography to capture that. Working in journalism led me to find a love for music photography and capturing people through my art. My work is heavily influenced by the art I consume but also by my research within academia and being able to intersect both allows me to have a new sense of freedom in my practice.

The Venue

The Venue: Music venues always shape the kind of environment you'll be in. What does my photograph do to give it justice in its beauty? The venue is so crowded, it is always full of immense layers of emotions with all the people united for one goal, music. The artist is consumed by their art while you, the watcher, just adores it. The goal of the image was to capture the art while making the artist a part of the space, to capture them as one hazy memory
