Artist Statement

I work in various media, exploring the materialities and physicality of painting, drawing, and printmaking. These different processes allow me to experiment with the materials and invite me to let go of expectations and control of the final product. I am interested in layers as a metaphor for what layers do: they keep us warm, they cover things up, they hide things. Adding layers inspires me to explore the impacts, additive or subtractive, each layer has on the overall composition and on each other.
