Juliana Lumawig

Artist Biography

Juliana Lumawig is an experimental multi-medium artist. Lumawig uses her artistic practice as “feelers” to shape and guide the path of her life. Almost acting as antennae, reaching out and receiving new information, her practice allows her to discover her place in the world. Her practice gives her space to explore what is once thought impossible to her, to listen to herself and act with total confidence, or no confidence at all. The space of art is total freedom. Some themes Lumawig tackles in her art is the self, expression of mental turmoil, Filipino Diaspora, and femininity.

Bike tires, car parts, license plate, expanding foam, string

The car parts are from two of my cars. A white 1998 Honda Civic SI and a grey 2008 Nissan Versa. The parts were manifested through a car theft and a crash.
