Artist Statement
Connecting words, emotions, and experiences through the use of texture, colour, and shapes has allowed me the space to communicate in a way that has felt authentic. It has allowed me to feel more connected to the world around me. My art aims to bridge the divide I feel between my inner and outer worlds.
Artist Biography
Immigrating to Calgary from Colombia at the age of six, Manuela learned early on the importance of resiliency and hard work. With art, Manuela aims to celebrate what it means to be alive while contributing to the larger context of resistance against oppressive systems of power.
