Artist Biography
My work has often explored the idea behind what goes unseen; whether it be through the passage of time, grief and loss, or everyday experiences, I have always wanted viewers to have the ability to connect to my work on a deeper level and feel a genuine relatability to it. I am driven by my own experiences and aim to empathise with those around me who may be viewing my work.
BACKUS_BECOMING
Inspired by the transformative qualities present within everyday life, this piece explores the cycle of a flower as a metaphor for the human experience. Beginning in the bud stage, depicting infancy and the innocence of youth; then entering its open and blooming stage of maturity, vitality, and potential; finally, a representation of flowers at their end, portraying the fact that we cannot escape the effects of time, but the essence of what was remains.
