Othello, Act 5 Scene 2
In the piece, three lithography prints of a person in distress are presented. Behind them, the script of Othello Act 5, Scene 2 is written, weaving the textual threads of Shakespeare's timeless tragedy into the fabric of the artwork. This juxtaposition of visual and textual elements invites viewers to delve deeper into the themes of jealousy, manipulation, and ultimate betrayal.
Artist Statement
I choose to explore negative emotions in my work as a commentary on their suppression in our society, which I have observed throughout my life across continents. My painting allows for raw and unfiltered expression of these feelings. This approach stems from existentialist philosophy, encouraging engagement with broad human experiences. My art aims to provide a visual language for difficult-to-articulate emotions. By presenting them without abstraction, I create a connection that goes beyond words. My work is not intended to shock or offend but rather is an invitation to sit with, acknowledge, and experience these universal emotions rather than suppressing them.
