"The Wong’s Trinketry"

Explores themes of family, lineage, and inheritance. The objects I depict in "The Wong’s Trinketry" are a teacup, a necklace, a frog plush, and a blanket. The teacup is my great-grandmother’s china and the necklace is a golden chain with my family’s jade pendant. "The Wong’s Trinketry" is a self-portrait that conveys my connection between myself and the chosen objects. I want spectators to understand my purposeful composition of objects which connect to express feelings of family love and togetherness. The print intentionally flows from the top down, as if I am pouring out an expression of love and tenderness towards my family.

inspiration

Wong’s art practice is inspired by children's narratives and external mass media. Her inspiration comes from character and world-building in children’s animations and video games. This concept helps her to explore issues addressing mental health in isolation and discovering identity through her work. Through her artistic skills, she strives to engage her creative experience in order to address real-world issues.
