Maddie Chewing her Rawhide Bone

I am inspired to paint by things that I come across in my everyday life. I am always taking photos to use as references for my work. This painting, Maddie Chewing her Rawhide Bone, was inspired by a photo that I took of my parent's dog. I use a realistic style within my work, but also love to incorporate vibrant saturated colours. The background of this specific piece adds contrast by incorporating some abstraction.

Biography

I am currently in my fourth-year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts: Visual Studies program at the University of Calgary. I enjoy painting animals, flowers, and landscapes in acrylic and oil paints. My paintings represent moments frozen in time while seeking to exhibit the beauty of the animals and environment that surrounds us.
