artist statement

As a third culture kid, I have always been interested in expressions of culture and identity. The concept of 'home' inspires me as an artist and understanding how different intersecting identities understand home and community. As a Communications and Visual Studies student, I'm forever interested in the ways that we communicate and express these identities and my art is just that.

Fruit of the Colonizer

This piece is one side of the coin of the 'Fruit of the Colonizer' series. I wanted to explore the relationship between recent immigrants and the country to which they have immigrated to. The fruit brighter than you've ever known is the very one whose seeds their ancestors stole from yours.
