Galaxy
Galaxy artwork was made out of coloured construction paper, cutting them in strips and gluing each strip onto each other. It represents my universe, and each colour circle is a planet representing my emotions, thoughts, occasions, experiences, and everyone I met in my life, including family and friends. It is an artwork depicting who I am and my journey in life.
Artist Biography
My name is Shruti Sharma, and I am currently studying Visual Studies. Since I was little, I have always had a little interest in art, especially abstract art. I found abstract art very interesting because there are no restrictions on what colour or design it has to be. As well as the conversation with people as to what they see in the abstract artwork. Moreover, I believe that memories are not only built on people and places but also on the emotions and thoughts we feel at that moment. Thus, is what my paintings showcase using the abstract style.
Artist statement
My artworks are abstract style and visualize my imagination and inner thoughts and emotions, I have a different creative process than others. Rather than planning my artwork, I prefer to start painting right away. I put a canvas in front of me and paint what my imaginations, emotions, and thoughts want to express. However, some parts of my artwork are planned, such as the materials and colour. Moreover, I am an artist that enjoys experimenting and trying different materials that aren't used as much in art.
How did you start your art practice?
I started painting and drawing when I was very little and since then my passion for art grew. I became more interested in it when I was in grade 9 and since then I kept my art practice going and now I am taking it as my degree.
