Artist Statement
I explore the human body through lyric prompts that guide my representation of an organ or a body part. Music forces my mind into a creative state that allows me to brainstorm ideas for artwork, whether it inspires a piece or not. I have always had a love for the human body, and by depicting organs and body parts, I can explore this interest of mine while pursuing my passion for painting and developing a greater understanding of the human body by researching it and knowing what I am depicting in my work.
Isaac’s Insects
In Isaac's Insects, I wanted to show how intrusive thoughts can infest your mind and make you feel like a million bugs are crawling around in your brain, whispering things in your ear. This work was inspired by the lyrics, “Why are all of Isaac's insects insane? Terrorize his life and pick apart his brain,” taken from the song, Isaac’s Insects by Isaac Dunbar.
