Sword Desireau

Atrtist’s statement

Sword Desireau is a photographer with over a decade of experience, driven by a passion for capturing fleeting, emotionally charged moments. While pursuing a philosophy degree, Sword has honed his skills behind the camera, focusing on storytelling through imagery. His work explores the delicate interplay between nature, urban life, and the unspoken emotions they evoke.

My photography centers on capturing moments that often go unnoticed—a boy's first photograph, or a father and son sharing a moment. Through my lens, I aim to evoke raw emotions like joy, melancholy, and contemplation, inviting viewers to feel the depth behind each image.

“The Silent Symphony of First Exposure"

I captured this photo at a local bird-spotting location, where a young boy, with a small point-and-shoot camera, lined up a perfect shot of a posing bird. His grandma, just out of frame, watched lovingly, silent to not spook the bird. This moment feels like the beginning of his journey as a photographer. I still remember the feeling of taking my first photo, and I’m certain he felt the same—this is his gateway to creating lasting memories and connecting people through his art.

“Like Father, Like Son"

While out taking photos for a separate project of mine I noticed these two. When the 'cool' planes would come in for a landing along 17L at CYYC, they would run out to watch and take pictures together. I could not tell who was more excited, the dad or the son. Hopefully one day the boy will take his kids here and keep this passion alive.
