Contained

The print Contained represents how the spaces we inhabit shape our sense of self. Houses are not just physical structures but are places we assign significance to and symbolize the identities we construct for ourselves. In creating this print, I contemplated how identity is shaped by factors inside and outside of the house (internal and external factors).

Artist statement

As an artist, I am intrigued by the ways human-made structures reflect our identity and memories. I believe that the spaces we inhabit are not just passive containers but active agents in shaping our experiences and emotions. By exploring these spaces and uncovering their hidden stories, I hope to create work that speaks to the deeper connections and emotions that underlie them.

How did you start your art practice?

Since a young age, I have been captivated by visual imagery, but it was not until my high school years that I began to take my art seriously and develop my visual language. What truly sparked my interest in creating art was the unique lens it provided to view the world around me and a means to express my distinct perspectives while also appreciating the viewpoints of others.
