Blue Cave, Oil pastel on roof felt, 24" x 18"

Blue Cave

Blue Cave explores a moment of warmth. Focusing in on the summer light with an array of colours reflecting off the water and along the walls of the cave. This moment provides warmth, and thrives to achieve unison by capturing the elements embedded in a split second. In using oil pastels, I wanted to push the textures within the rock, further signifying the depth and combining motion that guides one through the scene, thus exemplifying the beauty of nature.

Inspirations

Through my art practice, I am constantly inspired by the world and people around me. I love to be present with fine moments in life, such as the way the light casts shadows, the people you pass walking down the street, an insect that lands on your arm, emotions that build up inside, or even the desire to make a mess and try something new. Life in general holds great variety, and being able to focus even on one aspect at a time, influences me to continue creating and challenging myself.
