Victoria Zaba
About Artist
Victoria Maria Zaba is a Polish Canadian fourth year university student who has a deep fascination with realism and classical art and architecture. Zaba is currently completing a combined degree with Visual Studies and Greek and Roman Studies along with a minor in architecture. Her passion for art was heavily influenced by her mother, who painted with oils herself and brought her to many museums regularly, both in Canada and Poland as a child. As an artist, Zaba has grown a particular intertest in the themes of nostalgia, religion, mythology, and ancient history. The combined elements of these themes have influenced the forms of storytelling in her work.
Everyday I Have Thoughts
I mean, what do you do, when you find that things are not what you were taught they’re supposed to be? What do you do with the desperation that boils up from your stomach when you know there’s a road out there with your destination at the end of it, but it’s too damned dark to even find the road? You turn and turn and turn around like a dog trying to escape. Shrieks in the cavity of your head that so urgently needs to be filled with facts and challenges.
