Artist Statement
Art is the only mechanism allowing individuals to freely speak their words in a visual context. When I first immigrated to Canada, I had no choice but to remain silent in front of people due to the language and cultural barrier between them and myself. Thus, my refugee to escape from those stressful places was by looking at famous artworks in the book or online. I was not able to read their background story, but just looking at their image of work was the only moment I enjoyed and allowed me to build up my interest in art.
How did you start your art practice?
When I first chose my option class in high school, I realized that my most immense talents come from art and crafting. My potential to create and design from nothing into meaningful works is one of the most impressive skills that I possess within myself. Thus, as soon I graduated from high school and got accepted into the University of Calgary, after one year of experiencing campus life, I immediately applied for the visual degree program to study art more in-depth to search for my pure artistic style.
