Migratory

Migratory is one of my experiments with new material. For this collage, I collected printmaking pieces from classmates with different identities, shredded them and reassembled them into a brand-new dynamic identity. By recontextualization, I destroy the original meanings of fish, stone lion and astronaut and make them components of a new symbol, by which I want to let the viewers rethink about the meaning of the symbol and the essence of their own identity.

artist inspiration

When I was younger, I only created art pieces for myself and I considered art as a tool for self-entertainment at that time. But after having conversations with different people on the Internet from a few years ago, I notice that many people care too much about the world around them such as finance, environment and politics than themselves: their own identity, memory, subconscious and ego. So I decided to make my artwork a mirror of reflection for people to look at themselves again and to encourage them to care more about themselves
