Fragile Royalty

Fragile Royalty (2023), explores the fine line between architecture and the biological environment. The piece is a two rose by three rose structure created individually with each rose made of plaster and coated with purple acrylic paint. I believe architectural structures need small elements to create a whole. With this piece, each rose is attached together to create a stool like object. Wood, which is often used in the bases of architectural structure, is used to hold everything together. The stool-like structure attempts to portray how a functional man-made object can be combined with a naturally created entity such as a flower.

Artist statement

Our architectural environment is my biggest influence on my practice. I find inspiration from the functional structures we use by combining with it with our natural environment. I think it is beautiful how biological and artificial worlds can work together to create a life full of differences to create a whole.

How did you start your art practice?

Like many artists, my love for the art world was established at a young age. I feel that the door to this realm was opened by my grandmother. I was able to discover mediums such as drawing and glass painting through her introduction to it. This influenced my art practices in the future as my career focuses on working with different materials and discovery. I like to explore ways I haven't discovered before and create new paths to follow for myself. I want to learn new ways to create art and absorb it into my thinking and ways of life!
